General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) Privacy Notice for Satori Therapy Centre

This notice tells you why Satori Therapy Centre & its Therapists collect information about you and how this information may be used & how we keep it safe.

As a Client of Satori Therapy Centre, your individual therapist will need to hold personal information about you (name, contact details, medical history etc.) to be able to provide you with the best possible care.  You can of course, refuse to provide this information, although if you were to do so, we would not be able to provide you with any treatment.

This information will be stored as a paper record in a lockable filing cabinet. Any information that is required to be stored in a digital format, will always be held on a password protected electronic device. Both types of media will be for the sole use of your therapist &/ or therapy centre staff, who have a legal obligation to keep information about you confidential.

This data is mainly held for the purpose of providing safe and effective care and is collected lawfully in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (2018), the Human Rights Act (1998), & The Common Law of Confidentiality. With regards to marketing, your data will only be used for Satori Therapy Centre communications with your consent. Each therapist will act as the data controller for their own business and are responsible for the accuracy and safe-keeping of your information.  Please help to keep your records up to date by informing your therapist of any change of circumstance (including change of address, telephone number and health status etc).

As therapists, we abide by the Code of Conduct set out by our individual professional governing bodies. Therefore, we have a legal obligation to retain your health records for a minimum of 8 years after your last appointment (or until the age of 25 for patients that are under 18 years). After this time, your records will be destroyed as no records are kept longer than necessary.

To ensure your privacy, we will not disclose information over the telephone or email unless we are sure we are communicating directly with you.  Information will not be disclosed to a third unless we have prior written consent and we will not leave messages involving personal data with others.

In almost all circumstances you will be required to give written consent (or in the case of a child, parental consent) before information is released to a third party (i.e. reports for insurance companies, solicitors, GP letters or other therapists).  In exceptionally rare cases, we may be required by law to release your records (without consent), for example if a court order is presented, or if there is an imminent risk to the life of yourself or others.

You have the right, under the General Data Protection Regulations (2018) to request access to your records and the right to request rectification of any errors.  All requests for personal data must be made in writing by the patient or legal guardian to your individual therapist. We are required to provide this information to you within 28 days.

Should you have any concerns about how your information is managed at the clinic, please contact the clinic owner, Dawn Scott.  If you are not satisfied with the response, you have the right to raise the matter with the Information Commissioner’s Office via their website at
